What is Electobox
Electobox is a browser-based voting platform for organizations that need to run secure, private, and legally defensible elections — without deploying infrastructure or requiring technical knowledge from organizers or voters.
What it does
Electobox handles the full election lifecycle: ballot configuration, voter credential delivery, encrypted vote collection, anonymization, trustee-based decryption, and results export.
Voters receive a personal link by email or SMS, click it, make their selections, and submit. There's nothing to install and no account to create.
What it doesn't do
Electobox does not store or transmit any information about how individual voters voted. Ballots are encrypted on the voter's device before leaving the browser. The platform holds encrypted votes it cannot read until trustees collectively unlock them, and by then the ballots have been permanently anonymized.
Election formats
Electobox supports three formats:
Remote: All voters participate online via personal voting links delivered by email or SMS.
Hybrid: Some voters participate online, others in person. Both channels are tracked independently to prevent double voting.
Supported voting types
- Simple plurality (select one or more candidates)
- Ranked choice / preferential voting
- Score voting
- Weighted voting (voters have different vote weights)
- Party-based ballots with optional randomization
